The Daily Quran Recitation Portion (Wird)
In the Arabic Quranic tradition, a Wird refers to reading a portion of the Quran daily. Every Muslim is encouraged to create a personal schedule for daily Quran recitation.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
" ุงููุฑูุคููุง ุงูููุฑูุขูู ูุฅูููู ููุฃูุชู ูููู ู ุงููููุงู ูุฉู ุดููููุนูุง ูุฃูุตูุญุงุจููู"
“Recite the Quran, for it will come as an intercessor for its companions on the Day of Judgment.” (Sahih Muslim)
Because of this, a Muslim should commit to a daily portion of the Quran, according to what is manageable.
This can be after ‘Isha or Fajr prayer, or at any other convenient time. the goal is to stay connected to the Book of Allah.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to recite the Quran frequently, day and night. He would sometimes spend long hours in prayer at night, even reciting chapters like Al-Baqarah, Aal-Imran, and An-Nisa in a single unit of prayer.
Each person should read what they are able to. Whether it's a full juz’ (part), more, or less. The more you can read, the better.
Build a lifelong connection with the Qur’an
The Slaf "early generations of Muslims" used to divide the Quran across the days of the week, assigning a portion - known as a hizb - to each day.
Sticking to a consistent daily Quran recitation brings many blessings. As the Prophet (peace be upon him) replied on a question,
“The most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are done regularly, even if they are small.” (Sahih Muslim, narrated by Aisha)

Reciting the Holy Quran is one of the greatest acts of worship a person can do to draw closer to Allah, the Almighty.

“The best act of worship is the recitation of the Quran.”
This narration was recorded by Imam Al-Suyuti in Al-Jamiสฟ.
In another authentic hadith collected by Al-Bukhari, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
ุฎูููุฑูููู ู ู ูู ุชูุนููููู ู ุงูููุฑูุขูู ูุนููููู ููู
"The best amongst you is the one who learns the Quran and teaches it"
This hadith tells us that the highest and most honored Muslims in the sight of Allah are those who learn the Quran, through reading, memorizing, reciting it with care of tajwid rules, and then pass that knowledge on to others.

Start learning Quran Recitation with confidence
The Quran will intercede for its readers on the Day of Judgment.
In an authentic narration recorded by Imam Muslim, the Prophet (peace be upon him) encouraged Muslims to learn the Quran:
“Learn the Quran, for it will come on the Day of Judgment as an intercessor for its companions. Recite the two bright chapters, Al-Baqarah and Aal-Imran, for they will come on the Day of Judgment like two clouds, or two shades, or two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading for those who recited them. Recite Surah Al-Baqarah, for taking it is a blessing, leaving it is a loss, and the lazy cannot handle it.”
Al-Bukhari and Muslim also reported another beautiful hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him):โจ“The one who is skilled in the Quran will be with the noble, righteous scribes (angels), and the one who reads the Quran with difficulty and stumbles through it will have a double reward.”
These teachings show us the importance of reading the Quran and seeking Quranic knowledge. They also remind us of the value of finding a Quran teacher or Sheikh to correct our recitation and guide us in understanding and reciting the Quran properly.
